So, I’m Morgan Ashcraft. Currently, I am a freshman at the University of Oklahoma located in the city of Norman, Oklahoma. I am majoring in Professional Writing along with minors in French and International Studies. I’ve always loved to write, and I hope to find solace eventually in this blog through writing about myself and my experiences amid the stressful life of a college student. This blog also has an academic purpose: it is a requirement for my Global Engagements Fellowship that will one day aid me in my travels to study abroad.
I’m the only one in my immediate family to live in a large city and attend a large university. In addition, I will be the first to experience the opportunity of studying abroad. Almost two hours away, my mother still lives in our rural hometown of Hennessey, Oklahoma excited and fairly nervous for the adventures her daughter (that’s me – her only child) will encounter. While I love my hometown and its only two stoplights, my curiosity towards the rest of the world is relentless! I’ve always dreamed of traveling to foreign places, and now this dream is no longer so far-fetched.
In the next four years I will engage in trips abroad, hopefully to the streets of Paris where I can practice my French beyond the notebook I use to take notes while in class. In the meantime, I’ll be updating this blog with my own opinions on the world today and things I find interesting, along with what I learn during my time as a student here. I hope you hear me out and maybe even enjoy what I have to say.
